Continuing to support Southern Water's Zero Commitment by 2030
UK Power Networks Services has been appointed to develop a primary Electric Vehicle (EV) Strategy to support Southern Water’s ambition to transition all fleet vehicles to electric and low carbon alternatives.
Philip Heathcote, Head of Markets, said:
The study, which will build on the existing partnership between both organisations, will provide data across several areas including an analysis of the existing fleet, estimations on economic impact, assessment of charging technologies, as well as provide an EV roadmap to enable a phased roll-out approach.
Both organisations have been working collaboratively to assist in delivering Southern Water’s Net Zero commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 – the benchmark target of the water industry.
Martin Lock, Southern Water’s Fleet Manager, said:
In addition to this study, UK Power Networks Services continues to provide operation and maintenance support for 70 of Southern Water’s high voltage sites across the UK. This work so far has produced positive results through the reduction of overall maintenance costs, reduced risk of asset failure, increased security of supply and better environmental outcomes for Southern Water.
