International Women in Engineering Day 2023: Sharing what this year's theme means to inspiring women across our business

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of International Women in Engineering Day, we are delighted to share insights from women across our company who have come together to discuss their careers, their invaluable experiences with safety practices and their hopes for the future of our industry.

This year’s theme ‘Make safety seen’, resonates strong with us at UK Power Networks Services, given safety is paramount in everything we do. For us, ensuring safety is prioritised at every step of the journey, no matter the size or scale of the project is vital – and our female employees play a fundamental role in ensuring faultless delivery every single day.

There's been times where I've said, I don't think we should do the work and it has been canceled and called off. If you don't feel safe, you can say something, you're encouraged to say something.

We are incredibly proud of the inclusive culture we've built at UK Power Networks Services, and know that our female colleagues feel empowered to make real impact in a traditionally unrepresented industry.

Being able to have that ability to influence others, younger women, younger girls coming into our industry, it's only through us they will know what this journey looks like and that they can do it!

We will continue to champion our female employees and women in engineering more broadly - and remain committed to building a more gender diverse future of work for the industry.
