Multi-utilities staff raise thousands for military children’s charity
Attendees at a charity gala in Salisbury have raised more than £3,000 for a charity that provides support and comfort to bereaved military children.
UK Power Networks Services staff attended a charity ball organised by MUJV at the White Hart Hotel, Salisbury, raising the funds through ticket sales and a raffle.
MUJV is a 50:50 joint venture owned by UK Power Networks Services and Veolia that provides utility infrastructure services to one third of the British Army based across Salisbury Plain and Aldershot.
The donation will go to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity which helps to ensure long-term support for bereaved military children if a parent passes away. The donation will make a positive impact in the run up to Remembrance Day on 11 November.
MUJV sourced raffle prize donations and drinks reception sponsorship from local businesses, and contacted local DJs for the disco and a magician. Some 85 people attended the gala.
It costs approximately £1,000 to support one child through the charity. It ensures the bereaved children don’t lose their connection to the military and provides emotional support, outstanding development opportunities, and the chance to smile again.
