UK Power Networks Services volunteer for learning disability charity
Forty UK Power Networks Services volunteers visited the Boaz Project, a farm-based charity that helps adults with learning difficulties acquire work, skills, and friendship.
At a time when just 6% of adults with learning disabilities are in paid employment, Boaz enables adults excluded from mainstream work to learn a range of skills and crafts, make food, practise woodwork, as well as taking care of sheep, donkeys, guinea pigs and hens.
The Boaz Project in Sutton Scotney were ‘blown away’ by the team’s three-day stint which involved laying paving slabs in fruit and vegetable cages to improve access, installing trace heating, weed clearance, collecting and processing chicken eggs and supporting the members working in the kitchen, craft room and wood workshop.
