Ultra-fast EV chargers launched at bp pulse hub in Pimlico
We have partnered with bp pulse to power eight ultra-fast 150kW chargers at their Pimlico Electric Vehicle charging hub in central London.
The new charging points at Q-Park, in Cumberland Street, Pimlico, can simultaneously charge 16 vehicles, to support Electric Vehicle uptake.
Using our project management resource, engineering expertise and problem-solving skills, we devised a comprehensive plan to install and connect the new charging points in an underground car park near Victoria station.
Our engineers constructed a substation to house new electricity equipment and installed 660 metres of new cabling from the substation to a new electrical feeder pillar. The project delivered a 1.5-megawatt electricity supply to the new chargers.
James Birdsall, project engineer at bp pulse, said:
An innovative approach was needed to install the chargers in an underground car park. Our team used bespoke lifting techniques to manoeuvre the new chargers into spaces with limited headroom and work safely around existing suspended utility and ventilation ducts. We were able to minimise the impact of construction work and keep the car park open to customers throughout.
We installed the necessary hardware and software to support EV charging, enabling bp pulse to optimise their EV infrastructure and develop sophisticated fleet analysis.
